NLC 28th june 2024
Another cracking display of noctilucent clouds last night, maybe not as widespread as Tuesday night (which I missed due to cloud cover), but still very bright with some intricate structures. It started very early with a patch of cloud extending overhead around an hour after sunset, but this soon faded with the twilight, by which time there were just a few wisps on the northern horizon. It clouded over for a while after that but as this cleared the noctilucent cloud returned, feeding in from the northeast to cover most of the northern horizon to around 30 degrees, before the twilight returned.

Another bright and fairly extensive display of noctilucent clouds last night from Aberdeenshire, turning out to be a bumper season 🙂. Time-lapse taken between 2331 and 0115 UTC, 19th/20th June 2024. Chapel of Garioch, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Bright display of Noctilucent clouds last night, that I was fortunate enough to observe from Aberdeenshire, especially given the forecast over completely overcast skies. Looks to be quite a strong start to the NLC season, which is slightly at odds with the theories about strong solar activity subduing noctilucent clouds. Maybe that the amount of moisture injected by the increasing satellite lau...

Aurora in Twilight

Managed to catch some aurora in twilight last night, which was visible to the eye for about an hour leading up to local midnight. This may well be the last aurora for the season from Northern Scotland, barring another epic display on the scale of last Friday, which is a real possibility given the sun's current active state. Time-lapse taken between 2255 and 0002 UTC, 17tyh/18th May 2024. Chapel...

G5 Aurora Storm

Well last nghts display was something else, the biggest aurora I’ve seen from Aberdeenshire, and on a par with the big displays back in the Autumn of 2003. Not going to say too much, think the time-lapse say it all. Probaly should have pointed the camera southwest or south rather than northwest, but still managed to catch a couple of very active bursts. Time-lpase taken between 2200 and 0105 UT...

Normally I would say this was a cracking aurora, but expectations were high during the afternoon due to a strong solar wind magnetic field, which was orientated southward through most of the afternoon. This led to a strong G3 geomagnetic storm for a time during the late afternoon and early evening, but the magnetic field switched into the north during the evening and killed off most of the auro...
Loch Fyne Aurora

Took advantage of the decent views to the north whilst visiting Tarbert over the weekend, and was rewarded with some bright auroral rays. The colours are typical of this time of year, with pinks rather than reds in the upper portion of the display, where the rays are bathed in sunlight due to the low sun. The aurora was bright enough that it would have been visible from the harbour, but I decid...
Dunnottar Castle Aurora

Cracking aurora looking north over Dunnottar Castle last night, easily visible to the naked eye, and bright enough to outshine the light pollution of Aberdeen and the waxing gibbous moon. The spring has been a little dissopinting so far aurora and weather wise, but there's still time to catch another big display before the summer twiliught takes over. Time lapse taken between 2140 and 2258 UTC,...
Aurora in the moonlight

Impressive aurora on Thursday night, with rays easily visible despite the strong moon. There was a relatively quiet arc at around 10 degrees visible from around 2000 UTC, but this expanded and lifted up to around 15 degrees, before bursting into life with bright rayed bands from around 2200 to 2215 UTC. The display then broke up and slowly faded with very little visible by 2300 UTC. Timelapse t...

Just the one clear night on my recent break on Skye, not the biggest aurora but still nice to catch one on holiday from this beautiful location. The first section was taken from near the Milovaig Pier between 2100 and 2237 UTC, I then returned to the holiday cottage where the view wasn’t quite so good, but there were some impressive rays for a time rising above the hillside. between 2335 and 01...

Short video of the action from Sunday nights aurora, with a bright rayed band over Meall a’ Bhuachaille, viewed from the Cairngorm mountain car park. This is not far off what I was seeing, though not as colourful to the eye. Taken around 2335 UTC, 3rd March 2024.

First decent aurora of the year, the result of a strong but relatively slow CME. I decided to head west to escape the upper shield of cloud that was covering Scotland, but still missed the best of the early action, which was tantalisingly visible through the thinning clouds. Started off on the shores of Loch Insh near Kincraig, where I was able to catch some nice aurora reflections and also a s...

That cumulonimbus cloud 🥵
нихуя тхандерснег а гроза почему
Very interesting, because when I see these cumulonimbus anvils, I usually think about warm weather, not winter. And when I see these clouds together with the ground covered with snow, my brain is blown up
nice!
Cool
Gorgeous! Thank you for sharing!
Hi
this is the type of video to get recommended to people in 10 years
So much light pollution
It wasn’t all light pollution, the sun was probably only a few dents below the horizon and so not many stars were seen
Snow covered ground reflects street lights more, which makes clouds look brighter at night
amazing!
0:26 here comes the sun
tu du du du
I am commenting #BringBackDislikes on every unique RUclips video that I watch for the rest of 2024, regardless of if I actually dislike the video or not. This is video 2988.

If anvil storm clouds can become super cells, and supercells can become tornadoes, and snow clouds can become anvil storm clouds… SNOWNADO
Looks beautiful! The NLC season has started! I'm hoping to get lucky enough to see some this year though I'm about 10 degrees farther from the poles than you are. Keep up the photography.
Not able to give thumbs up. Says caller doesn’t have permission. Never have seen that before.🤔
New one on me ?
How do you even get something like that to form? Perhaps if warm and wet and cold air/ currents collide, which doesn't even happen in wast majority of cold places.
Jealous. Any intense snow squall approaches my region, if you blink - it's gone and the storm is over. According to this timelapse, they had several rounds of good stuff!!! Nice!!!
Nooo chufa
Jim Cantore would be proud for this.
i wish i could live in a snowy place so bad
I'm going to guess that you are an Aries.
that was the most amazing, satisfying, and beautiful timelapse i have ever seen
beautiful
in Va we once had Thunder and snowfall i cold not believe it...not much accumulation it's Va pedimont area.

what is the city and direction?
@@ir8free bruh look at the flashes in the video
Wow o Yee 😊😊😊😊😊
I didn't hear any thunder....
It’s a time lapse
And the distance would have been too far as well.

There's towering snowstorms with lightning. That's it. That's the thundersnow. Normal snow doesn't come from a towering cloud like that and it definitely doesn't have snow. You're just looking for the wrong thing.
You can see lightning in the cumulonimbus anvils
Beautiful video 👍
Beautiful aurora, thanks for video sharing 👍

Majestic view. Watching from Dubai. Big thumbs up.
I will always cheer for you in Korea I'm looking forward to a great video. Have a nice day.
amazing!
beautiful
really great shots, so happy to find this video. Did you do anything special to record it?
I used a Sony A7Sii and Samyang 24mm lens. I had two camnera's on the go so it was a bit of a juggle
That's cool!
